Accra Hearts of Oak Fail Fans
Centenary club Accra Hearts of Oak yesterday failed to ‘sacrifice’ Asante Kotoko as an icing on the cake for their celebration in their epic clash at the Accra Stadium.
Both sides failed to hit the back of the net despite many probes at goal, especially in the second half.
The stalemate score line kept Kotoko’s seven week league unbeaten run intact, allowing the Porcupine Warriors to maintain the top spot.
But it was the visitors who came close to scoring as one of Yahaya Mohammed’s strikes from a free kick hit the metal work 18 minutes to the end of the not-too-impressive game.
Hearts were in charge for the first few minutes but surrendered the dominance to Kotoko who also failed to utilize their goal scoring chances.
The early stages of the second half saw Hearts dominating until in the 20th minute when Kotoko forward Ahmed Toure had only goalkeeper Sammy Adjei to beat but the latter’s intervention was timely.
Eleven minutes to the end of the game, Kotoko survived a ball across the face of an empty net.
A few of referee Mohammed Awal’s decisions incurred the wrath of the spectators of both sides and some began throwing bagged and bottled water onto the pitch, but the heavy security presence managed to calm them down.
When the going became tough for both sides, the close to 40,000 spectators resorted to chanting and singing but it did not pay off.
