The Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) is calling for the resignation of President John Evans Atta Mills before the December general elections because it believes he is “presiding over corrupt government officials being described as ‘gargantuan criminals’. ”

According to the deputy communication director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Kuma, Ghanaians can no longer trust the President and does not deserve a second term of office.

The pro-opposition pressure group is staging a peaceful demonstration in Accra dubbed: “Atta Wayo” to register their displeasure about the state of governance and living conditions in the country.

According to Citi News’ Abdul Karim Naatogmah, a huge crowd has congregated at the Obra Spot at the Nkrumah Circle ready to hit the streets of Accra.

Some of the inscriptions on their placards read: “Atta Wayo wicked”, “Impeach Mills”, “Atta must go”, and “Two years no pay to NIA workers; why” among others.

“I believe it is going to be generally peaceful… the police are here to ensure peace and are ready for any eventuality,” our correspondent said.

Citifmonline. com will be updating readers as the demonstrators march through the streets of Adabraka, the Farisco Traffic Light Area, TUC and end at the Accra Hearts of Oak training grounds.
