Akomfo: Dancers of the Gods

| July 18, 2012 | 0 Comments

“Akomfo” offers a 26 year old Ashanti priest’s matter of fact account of the gods that regularly guide, teach, and possess him in the service of his Ghanaian village. It explores the regional anthropology of spiritual sickness—called sunsum yare by the Ashanti tribe—with the attendant methods of cure: divination, ritual sacrifice, spirit possession and herbal medicine.
