Former Ghana Defender Samuel Osei Kufuor has paid his dues to Ghana football, according to Alhaji Abdul Karim Grunsah, Founder of King Faisal FC.
He said the former AC Roma of Italy and Bayern Munich of Germany stopper has played leading roles for more than a decade to help make Ghana soccer become what it is today.
“Samuel Osei Kufuor has helped in making Ghana football become famous across the globe,” Alhaji Grunsah said during the official launch of Kufuor Testimonial Match in Kumasi.
To be played at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi on December 23 this year, the testimonial match would officially bring the curtain down on the illustrious career of Kufuor.
Alhaji Grunsah recounted that Kufuor had over the years faithfully served Ghana from the lower ranks to the senior national team level.
He said Kufuor is a true son of Ghana, therefore fans from all corners of the country should grace his testimonial match to make it grand.
The event was attended by Kufuor’s mother Madam Abena Tia and other family members as well some gurus of Ghana soccer including Coach E.K. Afranie.
An elated Kufuor thanked his mother and Alhaji Grunsah for their roles in making him a successful footballer, hoping that the stadium would be jammed when his select team plays the Black Stars on December 23.
