Hip Hop musician Nana Wiafe Asante Mensah aka ASEM has been dropped from the record Label of Lynx Entertainment over disagreements between the musician and the record company.

ASEM has been giving the marching orders at a time he is battling with issues of alleged rape of a Senior High School girl, which reportedly resulted in a pregnancy that was aborted.

That matter is still before officials of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service.

ASEM, hitherto, was on the label of Lynx, together with Richie, OJ Blaq, Eazzy, Irene and Zigi.

“Lynx Entertainment wishes to officially inform the media and the general public that based on recent happenings, ASEM has been officially dropped from the record label pending further legalities which will be completed by the end of the week.

“Lynx Entertainment and ASEM have had differences in opinion as to the direction his career should go. For the past few months, ASEM has been under a new management and certain decisions taken by the artiste and his new management have not represented the general image the record label wishes to portray; and Lynx Entertainment also feels that keeping ASEM on the label could limit him from pushing his career in the direction that he sees fit.

“The termination procedure and parting of the artist and the label is being done amicably. Henceforth, Lynx Entertainment will no longer represent ASEM as an artist,” Albert Mensah, General Manager of Lynx, noted in a press statement issued by the company.

The statement did not give details of what disagreements Lynx had with ASEM, but rumours are rife it has something to do with the alleged rape scandal.

ASEM could not be reached by NEWS-ONE for comments and he has also not spoken on the issue. Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports say he has set up his personal record label and named it Wobeda Ntem Records.

ASEM was one of the best artistes on the Lynx Entertainment record label and is best remembered for hit songs like ‘Give Me Blow’, ‘2010 Filla’, ‘Wu B3 Da Ntem’, ‘No More Kpayor’, ‘School De Be’ and ‘Pigaro’.

Quite recently, he was accused of having drugged, raped and impregnated a teenage girl.

The girl’s name was given simply as Queenie and her real age remains a mystery. She claimed to be 17 but her mother swore heaven and earth the girl was 15.

The matter got complicated as both daughter and mum said the pregnancy was aborted and that the alleged rape happened last year but no police report was made.

ASEM flatly denied all three allegations but said he would not pass comments on it publicly because his management intended taking a legal action against his accusers.

ASEM is a product of the Ghana Institute of Journalism and had his secondary education at St. Peter’s Senior High School.
