Dela Coffie: NDP was born out of intolerance, morbid greed for power

A group calling itself Grassroot Supporters Front has been formed to resist what is says are attempts to destabilize the ruling National Democratic Congress ahead of the December elections.

The group comprises some aggrieved members of the Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR).

At a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, the group singled out the newly formed National Democratic Party for criticisms.

Convener for the group, and a former member of FONKAR, Dela Coffie, stated emphatically the NDP is another machination by Mrs Rawlings to destroy the NDC party.

“Nana Konadu’s cry for the NDC logo has subsided but her machinations against the NDC haven’t. And as you can see, the formation of the NDP is just to set the stage to destroy the legacy that Mr. Rawlings has fought for which we are also standing for.

“The NDP is a party borne out of intolerance, enmity, rancor, bitterness, intolerance for dissension and morbid greed for power and machinations,” Dela Coffie stated.

He added the plot by the NDP was to undermine the NDC in the upcoming elections and that is where the “NDC Grassroot Supporters Front comes in. Ours is to resist anyone with the sole aim of disorganizing the NDC to satisfy his or her personal inordinate interest.”

“We the Grassroot Supporters Front of the NDC will once again stand firm, just like we supported Nana Konadu to, in support of our cherished principles in unity, stability and development. And whilst we are at it, we will resist every attempt by those who should know better on the path of destruction they have chosen for our founder and former president Rawlings,” he stated.

Joy News’ Francis Abban who was present at the press conference, reported the group as saying they will use all means, including legal, if necessary to stop attempts to thwart the efforts of the NDC.

It is however not clear, who is financing the newly formed Grassroot Supporters Front.
