Midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong wants Robin Van Persie to remain at Arsenal after he gave a parting shot to manager Arsene Wenger.

The Dutchman confirmed he will not be extending his contract at the Emirates because the club didn’t match his ambitions.

But Frimpong, who played alongside Van Persie at the first half of last season, before he loaned out to Wolverhampton Wanderers, is urging the 28-year-old to stay put at the club.

“If Van Persie leaves I’ll go to his house and sort him out myself,” Frimpong tweeted.

Manchester United are preparing to gazump neighbours Manchester City and Juventus who are believed to be leading the chase for his signature.
