Fifteen people die in a motor accident
Fifteen people are reported dead in a motor accident involving two Yuntong buses. 10 passengers who are said to be in critical condition have been rushed to the Komfo-Anokye Teaching Hospital while six have been treated and discharged. Four other passengers are reported missing.
The two buses, reports say, collided on the Akomadan road in the Ashanti region.
The Special Assistant to the Akomadan District Police Commander, Inspector Kennedy Frimpong said the bodies have been deposited at the Akomadan hospital whiles survivors are receiving treatment.
Explaining how the accident occurred, Inspector Frimpong, said a small Yutong bus heading towards Bolga and a larger Yutong bus fully loaded was from Bolga and heading to Kumasi.
The collision occurred at a sharp curve, he told Joy News’ Sammy Darko.
The District Police Commander, ASP Philbert Zubavile who was on the scene of the accident said investigations are underway to ascertain the true cause of the accident.
Meanwhile a medical doctor at the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman Dr. Ernest Ameyaw has confirmed to Asempa FM that no victim has died at the hospital.
According to Dr. Ameyaw, 43 victims were brought to the hospital after the accident, out of which 28 were males and 15 were females.
He said two of the victims who were in critical conditions have been operated on and are in a stable condition.
