The race for the presidential candidate slot of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has intensified, as members of the two major factions in the party, Get Atta Mills Endorsed (GAME) and Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings (FONKAR) are vigorously touring the Volta region to canvass votes for their preferred candidates.

DAILY GUIDE can confirm that members of the two factions are currently in the region to convince delegates to vote for their candidates in the upcoming Congress slated for July 8 in Sunyani.

A leading member of the Nana Konadu Rawlings’ Campaign team, Hon. Teye Nyaunor, in an interview, disclosed that they have zoned the region into three, namely Northern, Central and Southern.

Each of the three zones is also divided into two based on meetings to be held with the delegates.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the team was supposed to have visited the region a week ago but postponed the mission because the regional executives claimed they undertook an outreach programme that week.

However, information gathered by this paper indicates that most of the executives were not available to welcome Konadu’s team.

The team started the tour in the South on Monday and met delegates from Ketu North and South, Anlo and Keta constituencies.

They met the second batch of delegates drawn from North, South and Central Tongu, as well as Ave-Avenor constituencies. Their first port of call was Ho where they met delegates from various parts of the region.

The group, which is expected to tour Volta North, comprise Krachi East and West and Nkwanta North and South constituencies.

The team is made up of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, the aide of the Rawlingses, Kofi Adams, and the MP for the Lower Manya, Teye Nyaunor, Nana Konadu’s Campaign Coordinator, Namburr Berrick and Deputy Volta Regional Organizer, Siki Abibu among others.

However, the Atta Mills Campaign team, which is believed to have more cash, is seriously touring the region to canvas vote for the President.

DAILY GUIDE investigations indicate that the team, which is made up of party bigwigs in the region, has been divided into three different groups.

According to a source close to the GAME team, the Southern Volta Campaign team is being led by the Minister for Roads and Transport, Joe Gidisu.

Hon. Gidisu is touring the region in the company of Regional Chairman of the party, Kwadwo Aboagye, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Doe Adjaho, the Regional Secretary, Amegashie Viglo and others.

The paper learnt that the group visited Ave-Avenor, North, South and Central Tongu constituencies on Monday.

They also visited the Ketu North and South, Anlo and Keta Constituencies.

The Mid Volta team, which was led by the Minster for Women and Children Affairs, Juliana Azuma Mensah and the Ho West MP, Emmanuel Korsi Bedzra, visited Hohoe North and South and North-Dayi constituencies on Monday.

They were accompanied on the tour by the Regional Organiser, Henry Ametefe, the Deputy Regional Organiser, Hope Nyavedzi, the Adaklu Anyigbe, District Chief Executive (DCE), Kobla Adzaho and others.

The Volta Regional Minister, Joseph Amenowode, leader of the Northern Volta team, is touring region in the company of the former Akan MP, John Kwadwo Gyapong, the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Henry Ford Kamal and others.

On Monday, they covered Biakoye, Buem and Akan constituencies, Nkwanta North and South, as well as Krachi East and West.
