Gay Chief Nana Basanka rapes nephew
The pain and agony of a 19-year-old boy, who had been subjected to consistent sexual molestation by his 35-year-old uncle, finally came to an end last week Wednesday after the poor boy decided to inform the Queenmother in the community about his ordeal.
The victim, whose name has been withheld to protect his identity, had for the past one year been used as a sexual object by his uncle, Nana Basanka, who doubles as the chief of Kyekyewere in Amansie West district of Ashanti Region.
The chief had been satisfying his sexual desire by having canal knowledge almost every week with his helpless nephew, with whom he was staying at Manso Nkwanta, and then warned him not to say a word to anyone or he would face the rigorous consequences of the stool gods.
The chief is reported to have jealously accused his nephew of having flirted with girls in the Manso Nkwanta town anytime the boy was spotted chatting with a lady, and for his punishment the uncle would ask the boy to remove his underwear whilst he examined his penis to see if he had made any penetration, and then eventually forced anal sex with him.
Sometimes too, Nana Batanka would allegedly order his nephew to lick his penis until he reached orgasm, and then ultimately unleashed his libido on the poor nephew.
To cement his gay relationship with his nephew, the chief allegedly sent the boy to a native doctor, who gave them a ring to be worn by the victim as a sign of spiritual marriage between the two of them.
The ring also meant that the boy cannot have any sexual relationship with anyone, be it a male or female, besides his uncle.
However, the heinous crime of the chief, who has currently been destooled and is likely to be charged for criminal act, was discovered last week Wednesday after he made an attempt to have sex with his nephew.
Narrating his ordeal amidst sobbing on KESSBEN FM in Kumasi, during the station’s Breaking News programme last week Wednesday, the victim said he was living with his parents at Kyekyewere village three years ago, when his uncle came to take him to Manso Nkwanta to stay with him, and assist him in household chores.
According to the victim, he became the stool boy for his uncle, carrying his umbrella during traditional occasions and travelling with him anywhere he went.
He said, barely a year ago, his uncle started questioning him about his association with ladies and even went to the extent of warning any girl who was seen chatting with him.
The victim stated that anytime he went out and came home, the uncle would complain and vehemently accuse him of flirting around, and when he denied that he had not done anything wrong, the uncle would force him to remove his penis so he would inspect it, ending in forced anal sex.
“The first time he did it to me, I bled profusely in the anus, I couldn’t walk, but he warned me that I should not tell anyone because the gods of the stool would punish me if I did so,” he recounted.
He said the sordid act continued for some time before his uncle took him to see a fetish priest where he was given a ring as a symbol of their relationship.The victim, however, said he and his friends, who are engaged in galamsey business decided three weeks ago to consult a native doctor for spiritual protection against any bad spirit, to enable them embark on their small scale mining activities.
It was then that he was informed by the fetish priest that whoever gave him that ring had married him in spirit, and that before he could wear any other ring he had to remove the old one.
“I then confided in the native doctor and my friends about what my uncle has been doing to me and I was advised to remove the ring and report the matter to the elders of the community,” he stated.
The victim said when he came home that night, the uncle got furious and accused him once again of having sexual intercourse with a lady.
“He also questioned why I have removed the ring and then tried to force me to bed, but when I resisted, he knocked me down and inflicted several wounds on me,” he added.
The boy said when he informed his friends about the development, they took him to the Queenmother of the Manso Nkwanta community, Ohenemaa Nyarko Aboronomaa, where he narrated his ordeal to her.
The Queenmother, after hearing the chilling revelation, then took the victim into protection and instructed the Kyidomhene of the area, Nana Tutu Karikari Appau II, who has traditional jurisdiction over the Kyekyewere community to summon Nana Basanka before the Chiefs and Elders to defend the allegations.
The Queenmother subsequently drew the attention of the Paramount Chief of the area, Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah to the issue.
However, according to information, Nana Basanka declined several invitations until last week Wednesday, during the traditional Awukudae celebration when he was summoned by Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah to answer the allegations leveled against him.
But when he was given the opportunity to clear himself after the charges had been leveled against him, Nana Basanka could not corroborate his statement, resulting in his guilt.
Nana Bi-Kusi then ordered that his sandals be removed and all the necessary traditional customs performed including slaughtering of sheep to signify his de-stoolment.
Nana Basanka has since absconded the community and is currently being pursued by the Manso Nkwanta district police command.
Supt. S. K Kwakye told The Chronicle in an interview that the police had mounted a manhunt for the de-stooled chief.
