The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said the flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo will announce his running mate by March.
The General Secretary of the NPP, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, said the March deadline was given by the National Council to enable Nana Addo do a thorough job in search of a vice presidential candidate for this year’s elections.
“People should relax and the National Council’s decision was that by March this year the name would have been made known so there is no delay,” the NPP scribe told Citi News.
“Time is not of essence and I believe that at the right time the person will be announced by Nana Akufo-Addo. .. The consultation is still ongoing and I can assure you that I have never known Nana Akufo-Addo to get it wrong and at all times he gets it right and this time round he will get it right.”
Citi News sources have revealed that the delay in Nana Addo announcing his running mate is because the party is not in favour of his choice of former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for a second time.
Our sources say while Nana Addo is bent on giving Dr Bawumia a second chance to partner him, the party machinery on the other hand insists a different person be chosen as running mate.
