Nana Anane Amponsah the new king of Bronx New York
The outgoing Asantefuohene of New York, Nana Anane Amponsah expressed his profound gratitude to the entire Ghanaian community for their support during his 8 year of administration as Asantefoohene . In his final address at the swearing in ceremony of his successor, he said ” In the course of my tenure if I incurred the displeasure of anyone I would like to be forgiven as much as I do not seek to bear no grudges with anyone as I leave office .
“It is pertinent at this point to bury our differences as members of the association and Ghana” Nana Amponsah noted. With a sword (afena) in his outstretched arm ,Nana Okokyeredom Acheampong swore the great oath of secrecy of Asanteman and pledged his allegiance that “ through rain, sunshine, and snow I will not hesitate to heed to your call to serve unless I am prevented by sickness and death,” I will give you my ears, I will never let you down, the end of his pledge sparked with wild jubilation of Joy, with sprinkling of powder signaling victory , beating of gong-gong (dawuro) and chanting of war songs to support the new chief and his elders. Okokyeredom Acheampong noted.
When Nana Okokyeredom Owoahene Acheampong Tieku , the new Asantefuohene of New York took the opportunity to address the gathering , he called for unity, cooperation , understanding . ” I am going to lead you with transparency, dedication, commitment, loyalty, love, discipline ,seek for progress, honesty and always listen to advise from my people,since the voice of the people is the
voice of the Lord” I am therefore urging you all to join me with one accord to lift the image of the Asanteman Association into another level. “It is my goal to build teamwork through an all inclusive management policy , improve the membership database, uphold our rich culture and tradition.
“There would be zero tolerance for personality attacks, indiscipline and factionalism in my administration ,Ghana and Asanteman today are rather winners and not any individual . I am therefore pleading with everyone that in the spirit of unity we all let sleeping dogs lie, since with unity and sense of purpose we can all achieve our goal to lift the image of the Asanteman
Association ” Nana Okokyeredom Acheampong noted.
Nana Ofosu Osei Gyambibi – Krontihene, Nana Kwabena Amakye – Akwamuhene, Nana Kwabena Ackom -Akyeamehene and Nana Barimah Duah Agyeman – Bronxhene in their turn holding the sword to swear the oath of allegiance to the New Chief of
Asantefuohene of New York Nana Kwabena Oppong , the ex-chief of the Asanteman Association of New York, who chaired the colorful and well organized function called for peace, unity and trust because Ghana, our culture, heritage, and tradition should be our
cornerstone and not mis-information, attacking of personalities, divided and rule tactics that will
not lead us into progress in our daily activities.
Nana Sarpong Nyantakyi , a former Asantefuohene, Nana Kofi Nti , Brempong, Nana Adu-Tutu Mensah, Nana Yaw Sarfo, Nana Yaw Amoh, Nana Victor Amponsah, Nana Kwame Adarkwa, Nana Mensah Bonsu, Nana J.K. Owusu, Nana Kwame Boateng (Brooklyn), Nana
Owusu Manu, Nana Abena Konadu, Nana Konadu Ababio, Nana Abena Ampofoa, and Nana Abena Sakaa ex Asantefuohemaa (Queen Mothers) were there to grace the colorful ceremony.
