Addressing his subjects after a procession Saturday, he stated that he would not tolerate acts that attempt to thwart his reign in Akuse.
The procession went on in spite of a refusal by the Police and the District Security Council to grant them permits.
This nearly degenerated into violence when some residents of Akuse attempted to prevent the protesters from entering the town.
News of yesterday’s procession broke out over a week ago. Witnesses told Joy News some priests from Odumase Krobo went to Akuse at about 5 am Saturday to perform rituals at the main lorry station, but the youth of Akuse attacked and prevented them.
Later attempts to mount a canopy for the event were also stopped by the youth. By 9 am more crowds from Odumase Krobo gathered and started marching into Akuse. By the time the crowd got to the Akuse Police barrier only a handful of policemen, the usual team who keep the barrier daily, were on duty.
They did little to stop the crowd which eventually entered into Akuse. The Krobos patrolled through the Akuse Township for hours, and later converged at the main lorry station, where the paramount Chief addressed them.
