Patrol team grabbed five robbers

The suspected armed robbers in police custody

A night patrol team from the Accra Regional Police Command has arrested five suspected armed robbers who were believed to be going for a robbery expedition.

The suspects are Francis Avonyo, 24, Enyonam Anthony aka cash money, the ring leader, 24, Zakaria Mohammed, 22, Amadu Moro, 22 and Ernest Norgbedzi , the driver, 25.

Items found on them included three cutlasses, three screw drivers, two pairs of scissors, 2 pliers and 2 mobile phones.

They are currently in police custody assisting in investigations.

Briefing DAILY GUIDE, the Accra Regional Crime Officer Superintendent Frank Adufati said around 2am Tuesday morning, a police patrol team from the regional headquarters, intercepted a blue and yellow Opel Vectra taxi cab with registration number GT 3195 with five men on board at Tema Community 18.

The vehicle was stopped and those on board thoroughly searched.

In the course of the search a small black bag containing the afore-mentioned items were found.

The five men were quickly brought to the headquarters to be interrogated.

Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed that they were on their way to a robbery expedition.

According to them, they have been robbing people for the past three months.

Areas they normally operate include Ashaiman, Community 22, Ashaiman Zenu, Lebanon, Lashibi and Klagon.

The suspects narrated that with the said implements they easily broke into people’s rooms and windows to steal items such as laptops, home theatres, televisions, mobile phones and money.

Superintendent Adufati urged people who may have fallen victim to their activities to come to the Accra Regional Police Headquarters to identify the suspects.
