Germany-born Ghanaian teenager Phil Ofosu-Ayeh is resisting attempts to play for the European country, insisting he wants to play for the Ghana Under-20 team.
Born to Ghanaian father Nana Kojo Ofosu-Ayeh and German mother Manuela Schlutter, the 1.83 meter tall player, has a special feature of adapting to every role on the field.
He currently plies his trade with Regionaliga side SV Wilhelmshaven and has shown great desire to play for Ghana.
Ofosu-Ayeh caught the eyes of German officials at age 4 when he mesmerized opponents during their community games and has since been monitored by Bundesliga side Schalke 04.
“I want to play for my father’s country and that is Ghana and nothing else, I have watched them several times and that is where my heart belongs,” he stated.
‘‘I know I have what it takes to fit into their team whenever I am invited.”
He has been likened to Kevin-Prince Boateng who was born in Germany to a Ghanaian father and the German mother.
