Ex President John Jerry Rawlings has revealed at the June 4th celebrations what some senior members of then newly former National Democratic Congress had suggested as a logo.

According to Mr. Rawlings, one senior member of the NDC suggested they use a sheep, another suggested soap, whiles another suggested a pick axe.

He added that it was the wife that suggested the umbrella as the logo for the NDC due to its symbolism of protection.

Mr. Rawlings added at that time the popularity of the NDC was so high at that no matter who is placed next to the party’s logo, people will still vote for the person.

The former President addressing a rally at Aflao spoke predominantly in the Ewe language to supporters who cheered him on occasionally.

The June 4th rally at Aflao received huge publicity when some prominent people of the area pleaded with the organizers to change the venue because they believe the ruling government will victimize them for allowing their land to be used to castigate them by the Rawlingses.

But the organizers of the rally were least perturbed and the programme came on as scheduled.

The event itself witnessed hundreds of supporters trooping to the venue in buses lend their support for the event.

Most supporters wore T-shirts that pledged their support to Friends of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings (FONKAR); a splinter group in the NDC that was former in the run up to last year’s internal primaries of the NDC
