Residents of Mankessim in the Central region have taken to the streets in a protest against recent killings in the area.

More than three persons including school children were murdered recently in the area, an incident that has thrown the residents into a state of fear.

There are also reports that about seven children have been kidnapped with their whereabouts still unknown.

Hawa Iddrissu, Citi News correspondent who spoke to some of the demonstrators complained that “within the space of two weeks three children have died so we are very worried”.

“The MCE has met with the chief and the elders to find a solution to the killings. So we have decided to demonstrate so that the townsfolk will know what the meeting is about”.

Marching through some principal streets of Mankessim, leaders of the demonstrators called on the police and officials of the town to ensure that those behind the killings are arrested and prosecuted.
