Samuel Homady Kills Wife Veronica Kwao For not having Sex with Him
A 30-year-old sign writer has been arrested by the Amasaman District Police for allegedly butchering the wife and setting her and two other occupants ablaze.
The suspect, Samuel Homady, committed the act on Thursday around 1am after the wife had declined having sex with him.
According to an eyewitness, the victim, Veronica Kwao, 28, lives with the suspect, together with Christopher Kwao 11, the younger brother of the victim, and their stepson.
According to the eyewitness, they all live in a one bedroom apartment at a village called Coleman near Adja Appiah Industries, Amansaman; an assertion police confirmed.
The day before the incident, Veronica begged the boyfriend to send her younger brother, Christopher Kwao, to school but the suspect declined.
“Around 1am, when we saw the fire and consequently heard the shouts for help and rushed to their rescue, the room was locked so we broke through the window to save them before the police arrived,” the witness said.
Confirming the story to DAILY GUIDE, the commander in charge of the Amasaman District Police Station, Superintendent Kwodjo Asante, said that the police received information that a man had butchered the wife and set the room ablaze.
When police personnel got to the scene, the four had been rescued by the residents and rushed to the Amasaman Government Hospital for treatment.
At the hospital, an unconscious suspect Stephen Homady was revived, but Christopher Kwao and a four-year-old step-son of the suspect, who is yet to be identified, were treated and discharged.
Veronica Kwao, who sustained various degrees of cutlass wounds, is in a critical condition receiving treatment.
According to the police, the couple had a misunderstanding the previous day before Homady left for work.
That evening, after work, he allegedly sharpened a cutlass and hid it in their room.
Around 1am that fateful day, the suspect allegedly wanted to make love to the woman but she declined. He pulled out the cutlass, and started slashing the victims indiscriminately.
In the process, he set the room ablaze with the intention of also killing himself in the blaze.
The commander said residents who heard the shouts for help broke into their room through the window, and rescued the wife and the two boys.
“We managed to rescue the attempted killer when we got to the scene and conveyed them all to the Amansaman Government Hospital for medical attention.”
Superintendent Asante averred that the woman was in a critical condition as a result of the cutlass wounds and was receiving treatment.
He noted that police had not yet taken a statement from the victim due to her serious condition.
“The suspect has since been treated and discharged by the hospital authorities but he is in our custody pending trial,” he added.
