A deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has clarified President John Mills’ comments to journalists in the United States where he said achievements of his government are unprecedented.

According to the government, although it has achieved quite a number of promises made to Ghanaians, it would not rule out the fact that it has not entirely created paradise for them.

The NDC government came under heavy criticism for those comments, but Hon. Ablakwa has cleared the air saying, “the President emphasised that he would not say that work is complete, he would not say that challenges do not remain, but he is seeking a second term, he would have to show the people of this country that the three years he has had so far had not been wasted.”

“Some of the achievements are quite clear which include unprecedented low inflation rate, an unprecedented stability of the currency, an unprecedented GDP growth, an unprecedented one million metric tons of cocoa amongst others.

Ablakwa added: “He [Mills] has worked very hard to make sure that at least there are clear successes and so if you give him another term, he would be able to translate these successes unto other sectors of our lives.

“There’s so much goal-shifting that if you don’t tell your story, and you don’t account to the people of this country there is a certain tendency that all of these successes would be lost.”
