Sheikh Ishak Nuamah: Islam hates homosexuality
Any Politician who wants to win more votes from the Muslim community in the 2012 polls should never sanction homosexuality, a top Muslim cleric in the country has sternly cautioned.
Sheikh Ishak Nuamah insists the activities of gays and lesbians are distasteful and sinful in the presence of ‘Allah’ therefore he would actively campaign against any politician who would sanction homosexuality.
“The activities of these gays and lesbians are not acceptable in the sight of Allah, our Maker and therefore we as a people should not give them room to operate,” he pointed out.
Speaking with Omanhene of Kessben Fm in Kumasi, the top Muslim cleric said any country that would sanction homosexuality stood the risk of suffering the wrath of Allah.
Sheikh Nuamah vowed -“I will actively campaign against any politician that would openly be seen or heard sanctioning the sinful activities of these gays and lesbians.”
According to him, he would not remain idle for any person or group of people to bring disaster and the wrath of Allah on the entire country due to their unacceptable lifestyles.
In this regard, he stated emphatically that he would use his resources and time to campaign against any politician or political party that would sanction homosexuality.
He noted that even if he does not campaign against any politician that would associate himself with homosexuals, he was sure Muslims would not vote for such a person during the polls.
Islam as a religion that frowned on acts of homosexuality he said, stressing that had Ghana been an Islamic country, nobody would dare become a homosexual.
Sheikh Nuamah said homosexuality has so far failed to gain roots in the Islamic religion in Ghana. This trend will never change “because Islam hates homosexuality,” he added.
