A suspected thief was over the weekend lynched to death by unknown assailants near the Ashaiman Main lorry Park.

The deceased, who was later identified by some residents of Zongo-Laka, an Ashaiman suburb, as Belo Denkede aka Western, was found in a pool of blood.

He was found with a cracked head and broken cement blocks around him, raising suspicions that he could have been murdered.

The residents and colleagues who found him rushed to the area’s District Police Station to lodge a complaint at about 8:20 am.

Residents, colleagues and onlookers had gathered to catch a glimpse of the deceased when DAILY GUIDE visited the scene at about 8:00am that Saturday.

Iddrisu Aliu Maliaga, Unit Committee Member for Tulaku Electoral Area, told DAILY GUIDE that they suspected the deceased might have been lynched by some assailants.

According to him, “We traced and found blood stains, sticks and plastic chairs on the premises of a mechanic shop. We suspect that he might have gone there to steal and was lynched to death.”

He appealed to residents to desist from meting out instant justice to suspects, advising them to rather arrest and handover suspects to the police for investigation and prosecution.

As at press time, the Ashaiman Police were yet to visit the scene to start investigations into the alleged murder.
