Trader rapes four year old girl
A Kumasi Circuit Court has sentenced a 27-year old trader to 25 years with hard labour for defiling a four-year old girl. Akwasi Adjei pleaded not guilty to the crime.
Police Chief Inspector Isaac Mensah Appenteng told the court presided over by Justice William Boampong that both the victim and convict live in the same neighbourhood at Old-Tafo in Kumasi.
On November 17, at about 1930 hours, the little girl was playing behind the house when Adjei grabbed, gagged and dragged her into a garden. The prosecution said there the convict sexually abused her.
Screams from the girl attracted witnesses in the case, who rushed to the scene only to catch Adjei right in the act. They arrested and handed him over to the Police. The victim was issued with a Police medical form and doctors, who treated her confirmed in their report that she had indeed been defiled.
