United Front Party (UFP) sacks flagbearer Akwasi Addae aka Odike

The National Executive Committee of the United Front Party (UFP) in Ghana has sacked its presidential candidate for this year’s elections, Akwasi Addae aka Odike.

The political party said Mr. Odike is an ineffective flagbearer and has done little to project the image of the opposition party.
Odike, is a popular footwear dealer in Kumasi, and was elected unopposed as the presidential candidate of the new political unit at the party’s national congress held in Kumasi last December.
According to the national chairman of the UFP, Nana Agyenim Boateng, the flagbearer do not have the party at heart and has failed to attend any of their meetings since he was elected as the leader of the party.

Meanwhile, there appears to be confusion and cracks within the leadership of the party as the director of communications for the party, Nana Kusi Opoku Listowell, tells Citi News he disagrees with NEC’s decision.

He said they are flouting the party’s constitution.
