Voting ended in PNC congress
Voting has ended and counting is almost done in the People’s National Convention’s (PNC’s) national delegates’ congress at the Sunyani Polytechnic in the Bono Ahafo region.
The national delegates congress was delayed for several hours due to a court suit brought against the party which was heard today. The suit seeking to injunct today’s congress was however thrown away.
About 1,400 delegates across the country are voting to choose the party’s flag-bearer and national officers to lead the party in the 2012 general elections.
Early results show that old faces are likely to maintain their positions, but there could a surprise in the flag-bearer position .
The congress, under the theme, ‘A United PNC for Victory in 2012’ is expected to bring significant change to the party’s organization and position it well for next year’s elections.
The position of flag-bearer is keenly being contested by veteran politician and the most capped flag-bearer of the PNC Dr. Edward Mahama and a first entrant Hassan Ayarigah.
The congress was chaired by Dr Sule Gariba.
