Two men who attacked a police van with stones and sticks, after their brother was arrested for dealing in large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, have been grabbed by the Accra Regional Police Command.
Suspect Kwabena Doku, 17 and Kwame Obeng, 37 were said to have used stones to break the windscreen of one of the police’s operational vehicle with registration number GT 2314 Y, after their brother, Anang Tetteh, 37, was arrested for possessing narcotics.
Briefing DAILY GUIDE, the Crime Officer In charge Of the Accra Regional Police Command, Superintendent Frank Adufati, indicated that police had information that some people were dealing in narcotic drugs at Avenor.
He noted that a team of police personnel was dispatched to Avenor to apprehend the suspects.
“On arrival, police arrested Anang Tetteh, after a search in his room revealed three bags of ‘Ghana must go sack’ containing 50 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.”
He noted that when the suspect was being taken away in a police operational vehicle, Kwabena Doku and Kwame Obeng, who were not pleased with the arrest, attacked the police van and broke its windscreen.
He said police managed to apprehend the two in addition to the brother.
The regional crime officer stated that the three would be put before court soon.
