Zambia coach Herve Renard admits Ghana outplayed his side

Zambia coach Herve Renard has admitted that his side was outplayed by Ghana in their 2014 World Cup qualifier on Saturday even though the home side won the game.

The 43-year old Frenchman says their chances of qualifying for the tournament in Brazil could have been over if they had lost the game in Ndola.

The Chipolopolo won the game 1-0 but dodgy refereeing by Tunisian Saidi Kordi robbed the Black Stars of the chance of drawing level.

Herve described it as a ‘very important win’ but warned that there’s still a long way to go.

For the Frenchman, he could taken consolation that his lads were able to create but is hoping that those chances won’t come to haunt the African Champions in the final Group D match when the two sides face each in Accra as head to head will be considered when two countries finish on level.

“We did not play a fantastic game but we were efficient we missed one or two more chances. I hope we do not regret that when we go to play the last game in Accra,” the Frenchman said.

“Of course if we lost against Ghana today we would have known that it is over for us. It was very important to win today and get three points.”

The Frenchman also warned that Zambia has to do the job first by collecting maximum points against Lesotho and Sudan.

“Before we go to Accra we have two good games against Lesotho and a very good return leg against Sudan and a very good pitch with a good temperature and after that we go to Ghana.”
